It's all about the little things

It’s all about the little things <3

Typically, I write blogs with a clear purpose or a substantial topic in mind. However, today feels different; I want to share whatever thoughts come to mind, regardless of how directly useful they may be, as a way to connect with others over relatable moments. If you have known me for a while, you’d also know the love I have for dosas. Growing up, breakfast at our place always meant dosas - a childhood favourite that never got old. But you know what's funny? It's not the dosas I remember the most; it's the way my mom served them.

Imagine this: steaming hot dosas straight from the pan, my mom making them out for me and my dad. She'd patiently wait for us to finish, and only then would she start making her own. The thing is, by the time she got to eat, they'd be cold. It's something I never really thought about until I moved out. A few days ago I was making dosas for myself, and as I sighed about how I wouldn’t be able to just sit and eat them hot, that's when it dawned on me—my mom did this for us every day, without complaining, even on days when she wasn't feeling her best.

In that process, I realized the effort my mom put into making those moments special for us. What seemed like a tiny gesture back was actually a very big deal

Moving out has its own pros, you learn how to get your shit together and appreciate the little things differently. We all get so caught up in the rat race and looking at what we lack, that we forget to notice things and people that actually do bring us joy. So, take a moment to appreciate people who go that extra mile to make your day special, it’s when you start looking at the smaller things is when you realize how much love there is in your life, and how truly blessed you are to have that.

Having said that, here I am, thousands of miles away on a different continent, flipping dosas in my kitchen. And you know what? It's not just about the dosas; it's about being grateful for all the times my mom went the extra mile just to bring a smile to my face, and remember all the people who did the same!
